Twitter has recently suspended 70  accounts of Michael Bloomberg for violating the rules of Twitter against platform manipulation. The news has been confirmed by a spokesperson of Twitter. Further, the news was also published in Los Angeles Times citing that the accounts created for posting contents in the favor of Michael Bloomberg were violating the terms and conditions of Twitter in several ways. It was further revealed that the accounts were using unconventional plans for influencing the people including making of payment to the influencers to post content on behalf of the Democratic candidate for presidential elections.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the strategy of social media campaigns came under hot water when Twitter found several identical messages using identical links and hashtags which finally led the social media giant to suspend almost 70 accounts. Some of the accounts have been suspended permanently while some could regain access after proper verification. It was also found that many of the accounts were created only in the last two months and misleading the people through fake identities. The nature of the contents posted by the accounts of Michael Bloomberg was violating the platform Manipulation policy of Twitter. The policy was created in the year 2016 looking at the meddling of Russia in the elections.
The spokesman of Twitter further elaborating on the policies said that the Twitter policies prohibit the multiple accounts only to post identical messages and content to boost the engagement artificially. Meanwhile, an edited video clip shared by the accounts of Michael Bloomberg created has to face a lot of criticism however both Face book and Twitter found that the video was violating the policies and so it was allowed to remain on both sites. The campaigning strategy of Michael Bloomberg has been made by investing a huge budget to promote the presidential candidate in the elections. The strategy includes hiring the experts who could entice and influence the people on social media along with deputy organizers.  The deputy field organizers could make more than $25 00 per month by promoting Bloomberg and the contents and messages were posted by these deputy field organizers which finally violated the Twitter policies as revealed by some of the reports.
  Bloomberg wanted to influence his allure his voters and potential voters in the same way as Donald Trump did in his presidential elections. He employed a large number of social media influencers to reach people all across the country. It took a huge investment alongside the Democratic candidate but he has to face criticism when it was recognized that identical messages from identical accounts have been posted several times. It compelled Twitter to take firm actions against these accounts which were a big blow to the campaigning strategy. The Democratic candidate has invested more than $300 on advertisements over the different social media channels which includes radio, TV, Twitter, Facebook Google and many more.
It would be interesting to see how the democratic candidate is going to deal with the situation and how it is going to impact his overall candidature in the elections. Meanwhile, the campaigning spokesman of Bloomberg said that they are trying to reach the people through several platforms and social media is just a part of it.
